The first phase of this project was an aerial survey for approximately20 miles of the proposed alignment along Cave Creek Boulevard from DeerValley Road to Dove Valley Road and a portion of the future MayoBoulevard alignment to be used by PEC and seven other engineeringconsultants.
The second phase was the design of 9,300 L.F. of 54-inchdiameter water transmission main and parallel 36-inch diameterreclaimed water main on a portion of the proposed alignment. PEC'sassignment also included coordination with other consultants, supplemental surveys and adherence to an aggressive design schedule.
Major work elements included all necessary engineering work incidentalto:
- field surveys
- aerial control survey
- cost estimates
- supplemental specifications
- design plans for construction
- post design services
Butterfly valves were installed with manhole vaults, fire hydrant blowoff assemblies, and steel cylinder pipe with welded restrained jointsas required. Portions of the 20-mile proposed alignment were in anenvironmentally sensitive area requiring PEC's assistance in securingthe 404 Permit.
Right-of-way plans were also developed for the entire20 miles. In compliance with ADWR, PEC also provided structuralcalculations and design drawings for proposed boring and jackingthrough the Cave Buttes Dam Dike No. 2. Project.
