Sentinel Zone A Floodplain Study

 PEC provided study services for the Sentinel Watershed Floodplain Delineation Study. The 150 sq. mi. study area is located south of the Gila River and west of Gila Bend. PEC delineated 50 miles of Zone A 100-year floodplain on tributaries to the Gila River. Aerial photos, land use data, soil data, parcels data and topographic data was used to develop watershed parameters using WMS. HEC-1 was used to estimate peak discharges for both 100-year 6-hour and 100-year 24-hour. HEC-RAS was used for the hydraulic modeling. Significant field work was done to ground truth the results. Berms, levees and possible conveyance anomalies were toured and checked. Multiple scenarios were analyzed for the levees. PEC prepared the TDN and work maps for submittal to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
