Landmark Drive

PEC worked with Summit County (County) and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) on this critical project to help alleviate traffic congestion in the Summit County area. PEC worked on all phases of this project including concept phase, traffic analysis, environmental assessment (EA), public involvement, economic impact evaluation, 3-D visualization model, survey, right-of-way, final design, cost estimating, and construction engineering management.

During the concept phase we investigated alternatives to alleviate congestion and improve safety along Landmark Drive between SR-224 and Kilby Road in Summit County, Utah.  The existing 3-lane roadway experiences high peak-hour traffic congestion and exhibits safety concerns.
The study area for this project includes Landmark Drive that currently connects SR-224 and Kilby Road in the Kimball Junction area, the study area also extends south of the Kimball Junction area to Olympic Park Drive and includes areas along SR-224, Ute Boulevard, and Uinta Way. A major part of the improvements are at the intersection of SR-224 and Landmark Drive. As part of the design and construction was the need to accommodate additional turn lanes at the intersection to improve the overall level of service. The potential improvements to Landmark Drive include a roundabout, traffic signal or a large traffic circle along with a new roadway connection to Olympic Park Boulevard.

As part of our Construction Engineering Management services PEC organized and lead the preconstruction conference, field inspection, materials testing certification, quality control for materials testing, review traffic control, process change orders, review contractor submittals, process contractor payments, monitor project progress in relation to contract time, quantity measurements, resolve utility and field issues and document everything in accordance with UDOT and FHWA requirments.
