Eaglewood Fire Station

PEC provided the materials testing and inspection for soils and asphalt placement, reinforced concrete, structural masonry and welding, and lab testing.  The project involved the construction of a 14,000 square foot building.  As well as the development of the surrounding property.

SOILS - PEC conducted inspections and in place moisture density testing for the structural soils, which involved the observation of the lifts during placement and the material condition, while structural fill was imported for the building pad.  Soils were tested for density before additional lifts were placed, and results reported to the superintendant of the job .

STRUCTURAL CONCRETE - PEC special inspectors checked that the job plans were followed as reinforcing steel was installed, the steel was checked for overlap, spacing, size of bar, etc..  Upon completion of inspecting the reinforcing steel the inspector observed the placement of concrete in accordance with the International Building Code.  Concrete was tested on site for air entrainment, slump, and cylinders were cast for compressive strength testing, results were reported verbally to the job site superintendant.  PEC also asked for RFI's when questionable areas were encountered.  PEC special inspectors filled out daily reports outlining the findings during inspection and testing, and submitted a copy to the job superintendant, typed copies were later distributed to the contractor, owner, and municipalities.

STRUCTURAL MASONRY - PEC special inspectors checked that the job plans were followed as reinforcing steel was installed, the steel was checked for overlap, spacing, size of bar, etc..  Upon completion of inspecting the reinforcing steel the inspector observed the placement of the grout throughout the placement.  Masonry composite prisms were constructed on site and tested for strength in accordance with International Building Code.  PEC special inspectors filled out daily reports outlining the findings during inspection and testing, and submitted a copy to the job superintendant, typed copies were later distributed to the contractor, owner, and municipalities.

STRUCTURAL STEEL - PEC special inspectors checked that the job plans were followed as the structural steel was installed as well as that the welders had the proper certifications required.  Fillet welds were checked during construction for; size, length, and quality, as per the job requirements and AWS D1.1.  Structural steel bolting was also inspected during the construction for proper installation and quality as per project requirements and AWS D1.1.

SITE WORK - PEC technicians performed in - place density testing on the parking lot area and roadway in preparation for asphalt, concrete sidewalk, and curbing.  Technicians monitored the placement and compaction efforts of the road base, communicated with the superintendant about concrete placement for field testing and compressive strength cylinders.  The technicians also observed the placement of hot mix asphalt and conducted in place density testing.
