PEC was the prime consultant for this $2 million construction project at I-10 San Simon Port of Entry. PEC's staff prepared construction plans for a one-mile-long PCCP truck ramp, milling and overlay around the Port of Entry and weigh station. The project included control and topographic surveys, drainage calculations, culvert extensions, PCCP joint designs, and construction sequence plan. Subtasks included electrical design for placement of the Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) scales and WIM pad design; Traffic signing and striping for proper location of lanes across the WIM; and striping, signing and detours throughout the Port Area and Truck Ramp. Post design services included design of new static scales with approach ramps. The final designs were completed within the project schedule although a large change in scope was added after the 60% plan level. PEC was recognized for its design excellence when this project won the 1994 Safford District ADOT "Construction Excellence Award" and the "Marvin M. Black National Partnering Award". |
